ADRIANA'S STORY
My name is Adriana, and I am in 5th grade. I live with my mom, 7th grade brother and 2nd grade sister.
When I was in 2nd grade, my dad left us. Right after that Corona hit, and my mom lost her job. She was a cook at a restaurant. She also cleaned buildings at night, and we would help her, but the company shut down, and she lost that job, too. We had to sell our furniture and other stuff, and we lived in our car. The car was not too bad except my brother’s feet smell really bad. After three months, we moved in with my uncle, but he was a bad man and would hit my mom. We had to move out, and we finally have a one bedroom apartment.
My 3rd grade teacher noticed I was coming to school hungry, especially on Monday and started asking me some questions. I told her everything that was going on, and she got us some help. Hungry Souls was part of that help.
We love the food we get, and my mom likes to cook the recipes. I get to cook with her, too!
Hungry Souls has been a blessing to my family.
My mom has been able to get a part-time job cleaning and another part-time job cooking. That helps a lot, but we still need help with food.
Adriana’s family is one of nearly 350 that Hungry Souls serves weekly, and their story is not uncommon. Your generosity offers help and hope to families like this when you give to Hungry Souls.

FROM MY PERSPECTIVE
In January, I received an invitation from the Board of Directors to assess the organization and help prepare for future growth driven by their strong desire to impact even more lives. As a consultant with over 25 years in the nonprofit sector, one of the key factors in the success of an organization is the Board’s commitment to the mission and shared desire for healthy growth. I’m fortunate to be a part of an exciting time in this phase of Hungry Souls.
Hungry Souls is a fantastic organization with an amazing mission. The ultimate goal is to demonstrate the love of Jesus in tangible ways primarily through our feeding program which provides full meals to students and their families when school is not in session. Currently, Hungry Souls is feeding just over 1,000 individuals weekly, and we’ve set a goal to increase that by 50% – that’s feeding 1,500 this fall! It’s quite aggressive, but the need is there. We’ve made a few changes and will continue to make more to achieve this goal and prepare for increasing this number as we grow. Please join me in praying for wisdom as decisions are being made to build upon the foundation of Hungry Souls for its future.
I believe God is positioning Hungry Souls for greater impact, but we’re going to need your help. Be a part of what God is doing as He leads us through change for His purpose.

Serving Him,
Jimmy West
Interim Executive Director

GOLF TOURNAMENT 2022
Hungry Souls held its first golf tournament on May 2nd and was successful in hosting over 60 golfers at Austin’s Lost Creek Country Club. If you didn’t get to play, it’s not too late to participate. You can still support Hungry Souls by giving now to feed food insecure students and their families in the Central Texas area.

DONATE
Hungry Souls saw exponential growth – both in need and support – in 2021. For 2022, we are on track to add 50-75 students and their families this fall which equates to more than 20,000 additional meals. Will you give now so more can receive meals and experience the love of Jesus in tangible ways? Your giving to Hungry Souls offers help and hope to families in need.
