Our Name has Multiple Meanings for a Reason
Being hungry takes on many forms besides physical hunger. We see this in our kids and their families every day. Some are hungry for food, some for material needs, some for health and some for friendship and community. Their soul is troubled and we have been called to help. The greatest hunger we all experience is the need for relationship. And the greatest relationship we are designed to have is one with our creator. Therefore, our end goal at Hungry Souls is to demonstrate the love of Jesus in tangible ways to produce an opportunity to introduce families to Jesus.
Jason and Celeste Stanford founded Hungry Souls in 2011 after Jason served with Casa Por Cristo in Mexico. Ever since she was young, Emily has had a passion for words. When she grew up, she traded her journals for a degree in English and now works as a Marketing Associate at Greenleaf Book Group. Using the power of words—whether it’s helping authors get their books into their readers’ hands or overseeing marketing and communications for Hungry Souls—she keeps her passion for storytelling front and center.
She says, “I’m happy to contribute my knowledge of marketing to help spread the word about Hungry Souls. The mission of this organization is so transparent and important—show others the love of Jesus by feeding those in need. I am happy to be a part of this goal.”
Jarryd is married to Rebekah Ann Nolen and has three daughters: Olivia Mae, Savannah Grace, and Emma June. He grew up in Dripping Springs but lives in Buda, Texas with his family. They have a big heart for children causes. At the moment, his hobbies include: princess dress up, reading stories, playing hide and seek, and little girls and Daddy cooking time (something all children should have a chance to have). One of his main concern as a parent is trying to get the best food to his kids. Beyond worrying about getting enough food—finding healthy options is a challenge. Getting them to eat it is another!
Jarryd knows there are many good causes and many people in need, but he believes we need focus our efforts on children in tough situations. He believes people can have a great life coming from all circumstance in life, but he also believes the chances greatly improve when little ones have a safe home and food in their bellies.
